ENIHEI is a network of 38 higher education institutions recognized by the European Commission for their outstanding performance in some area of the European innovation ecosystem. ENIHEI develops collective innovative thinking on how higher education can drive innovation. Members of the European Network of Higher Education Institutions (ENIHEI) form a forum to exchange knowledge, ideas, and experiences on how higher education can promote an innovation culture, and enable creativity, entrepreneurship, and talent.
ENIHEI supports the European higher education system in its efforts to establish Europe as a global leader in the next wave of innovation.
ENIHEI develops ideas to advance innovation within the framework of two key European policies:
ENIHEI publishes reports and proposals with recommendations for the European Commission Services and other European innovation agents.
ENIHEI is a cross-section of the European higher education system, created to exchange and leverage experiences across various innovation domains and to act as role models for the wider higher education sector. Twenty-seven of them were nominated by the governments of the Member States and the rest were appointed directly by the European Commission from among the members of the University Alliances.

The 7th ENIHEI General Assembly meeting brought together members to review recent developments in the network, share institutional updates, and agree on key strategic directions. Discussions covered updates on ENIHEI membership and governance, including continuity within the Steering Committee and the extension of the ENIHEI Secretariat at the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology. Participants reflected on ENIHEI’s evolving mission, agreeing to maintain it as a collaborative and informal network while strengthening its impact through concrete outputs and thematic online exchanges.
