European Network of Innovative Higher Education Institutions

What is ENIHEI?

ENIHEI is a network of 38 higher education institutions recognized by the European Commission for their outstanding performance in some area of the European innovation ecosystem. ENIHEI develops collective innovative thinking on how higher education can drive innovation. Members of the European Network of Higher Education Institutions (ENIHEI) form a forum to exchange knowledge, ideas, and experiences on how higher education can promote an innovation culture, and enable creativity, entrepreneurship, and talent.

ENIHEI’s Roles

To support higher education

ENIHEI supports the European higher education system in its efforts to establish Europe as a global leader in the next wave of innovation.

To foster European innovation

ENIHEI develops ideas to advance innovation within the framework of two key European policies:

To offer recommendations

ENIHEI publishes reports and proposals with recommendations for the European Commission Services and other European innovation agents.

A community of practice focused on innovation

ENIHEI is a cross-section of the European higher education system, created to exchange and leverage experiences across various innovation domains and to act as role models for the wider higher education sector. Twenty-seven of them were nominated by the governments of the Member States and the rest were appointed directly by the European Commission from among the members of the University Alliances.
